The Grand Finale: THIMUN Day 6 – Outrageously insane yet a blast

The last day was clearly shown throughout the crowd. Laziness was all throughout the assemblies and commissions but fun was in the air. Crazy things happened, war was declared against random countries, notes were outrageous and meetings were not in order.
Phil and I were together again as the Disarmament Commission was reunited for debating resolutions we were separated for. Delegates showed their true laziness as they passed meaningless notes and were loud merely all day. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely debated, but delegates had fun while doing so today.
Phil and I failed the resolution on measures to prevent terrorists from acquiring WMDs, which was our goal because this resolution had parts of his resolution, which were stolen and placed into this one.
We weren’t able to debate my resolution because it wasn’t well debated in the sub-commission since it passed with flying colors.
Phil and I found out that Libya nearly always agreed with Syria’s comments on other people’s resolutions. So I decided to take this matter to the chair. I asked the Chair if Libya could change its name to The Syrian Fan Club of North Africa. The note was passed to the chair but my question was turned turn with a big fat NO response.
Too bad…but these were the kind of things that were going on during the final stretch of THIMUN, I mean people even declared war on the Admin Staff.
Closing Ceremonies
When THIMUN came to a close I really did feel sad. I wasn’t able to go into the General Assembly to watch the ceremony but I watched it on TV with hundreds of other delegates.
The band that was playing in the GA came out into the lobby and was playing there as well. Hundreds surrounded this drumline as the paraded out of the general assembly.
At the end of the ceremony the presidents and chairs were auctioned off for charity. The winning bidder would get a free dinner with their president. Some raised nearly 200 euro for the cause!
THIMUN Dance
THIMUN really came to its end at the THIMUN dance, which was a blast. The dowstairs lunch rooms were tranformedinto two rooms, ahip-hop room and a techno room. Personally, I thought the techno was more fun because it was mostly songs from the 1980s. Overall though the environment was fun and it was a great way to end a great trip.
When I get back to Wiesbaden I will be sure to update the Flickr with all my pictures from THIMUN, so you can continue to read the blog.

Omgosh, it was a blast. That drumline was awesome!!! I was in the GA in the middle of the action, and I can assure you we had our own dealings with war. Portugal declared war on Spain, and the Marshall Islands declared war on someone. We (San Marino) were thinking about declaring war on the Holy See.
