Quick thoughts about the iPod killer

By now we have all heard about Microsoft’s iPod killer, the Zune. I have even thought about how it may actually be a decent product. Below are my thoughts on this device, my likes and dislikes and whether I think it will kill Apple’s momentum in the media market.
Likes
- Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) connectivity
- Resolution: 3 inch video LCD 320×240
- TV output
- Colors - Black, White, Brown
- FM Radio
- Custom background images
Dislikes
- Over 1/2 an inch sick
- 30 GB, not great for a nice display
- TV output at 640×480 (is that some kind of joke?)
- 3.5 hour battery life (if playing video)
- Not Mac compatible
- Elen Degeneres likes the Zune
- It is made by Microsoft
Overall
The Zune is getting a lot of hype and overall I think it for nothing.
Microsoft is making this device people, we need to remember that. It will be so restricted by DRM and tied to Windows that it will not be worth it. They are creating another media program (what ever happened to Windows Media), that only works with the Zune, and trying to attack Apple directly is a big mistake.
Apple opened up to the Windows users, but M$ (Microsoft) is not willing to return the favor, I say stay away from the Zune. It is a prime example of how Microsoft sees something Apple does and mimics it, ever heard of Vista?

Joe, I do not think 640×480 will look great on TV, as for the likes just because it is similar to the iPod does not mean I do not like these features. Having FM radio built in is a lot better than paying 30 dollars for it.
