5 reasons the iPhone will NEVER happen

Once again there is speculation about Apple creating an iPod phone, but I really believe that this tool will not be successful for Apple for several reasons.
- Weaken the iPod - Apple has created a revolution in portable music players with the iPod, but by adding phone capabilities to this device they take away from the original concept. It is too tough to balance the capabilities of phone with the functionality of the iPod.
- Who distributes - Creating an iPod is fine because it can be purchased by anyone, however creating an iPod phone is different because it can not be offered by all carriers, immediately challenging sales on this device. Apple does not like to put their hardware in the hands of some other company.
- Apple Network? - It seems that the answer to “number 2″ is for Apple to create their own cell phone network, however this puts Apple at great risk because these new independent networks are known to fail (ESPN Mobile).
- A little Risky - The past few years for Apple have been remarkable, mostly due to the overwhelming success of the iPod. Since this time Apple has been releasing better and better products and have grown an even bigger fan-base. Creating a device with so much speculation is something that Apple can NOT afford to do at the current time.
- Everyone is expecting it - Because of all the talk about the “iPhone” Apple can not release it right now, or at all. This is why I believe that at their “Its Showtime” event they did not release a widescreen iPod.

Yeah, I just saw that. Talk about terrible timing for this article. It should be titled “The 5 ways the iPhone has become a reality”
Oh well, there is a demand for the product, if Apple makes it I think the quality will be great.
