A rollercoaster week for ‘Studio 60′

Last weekend I immediately fell in love with the new series Studio 60 from the Sunset Strip. In two days I had quickly watched every episode twice and could not wait for next Monday (November 6) to roll around with another episode.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, is a brand new series started this fall, it is about a show on the National
Broadcast System (NBS) that is closely related to Saturday Night Live. This drama pulled me in with Matthew Perry’s character, Matt Albie, and the story of working in television (which I hope to one day do), plus Sting was on an episode! [What could make a better series?]
Being a big fan of this show I decided to look for a Studio 60 Facebook group, however the only groups I could find were ‘Save Studio 60‘ groups. “Uhoh,” I thought.
Apparently Fox News relayed a story that Studio 60 was about to get the axe by NBC, due to their poor ratings compared to shows like ‘Heroes’ and ‘Friday Night Lights’. The article payed mention to the fact that Studio 60’s time-slot, Monday’s at 10PM Eastern, would probably be replaced with everyone’s favorite, Deal or No Deal.
“Great,” I thought. I fall in love with a show that will get canned by stupid reality TV. You see that is the problem with TV today, Americans are so entertained by ‘Date my Mom’ that we neglect real quality TV (that actually makes you think). In talking with my friend Evan, I realized that I am not the only one that feels this way, and that NBC is making a huge mistake.
Rollercoaster?
Tuesday night I came across a story that denied Fox’s allegations to Studio 60 getting canned. An NBC spokesman said the Studio 60 is not scheduled to get canceled, that its ratings have gone up, and that it is actually profitable.
“Phew.”
Watch it
If you have not seen Studio 60 now, more than ever, is the time to watch it. You can buy the episodes on iTunes to catch up, or watch the latest episode on NBC.com. Either way tune in this Monday at 10PM Eastern to what I think is one of the best shows on television!
